The Transition to Residency Advantage program is designed to take place in 1:1 meetings starting with a warm handoff that includes UME and GME coaches, and quarterly meetings through the first year of training. Semi-structured guides are provided for each of these meetings. Tools are selected to scaffold the meeting based on the issues most relevant for trainees at each point in the year. However, coaches often depart from these guides based on the learner’s agenda. The coaching tools can be adapted to other times and settings, and have been successfully used in group coaching contexts.
